Royale Orchids started as a cut flower Cymbidium operation some 40 years ago by the founders, Roy and Alice Hipkins, hence the name 'ROYALE'.
From a backyard hobbyist the company has developed into the largest most diverse specialist orchid nursery in NSW.
The nursery was relocated some 6 years ago from Woy Woy to a 38 acre rural property at Peats Ridge, an area which is renowned for its clean air and spring water, and is under the guidance of Kevin Hipkins with Jody Cutajar taking the reins as Nursery Manager.
Cymbidiums and Odontoglossums are our main crops but being such a diverse nursery we also dabble in Paphs, Dendrobiums, Masdevallia and many other types. Our major suppliers are Geyserland Orchids (Andy Easton), CalOrchid (James and Lauris Rose), Hawk Hill Nursery (Bob Hamilton and John Leathers) and Golden Gate Orchids (Tom Perlite).
International Achievements for 2004
As at the 12th June 2004 we have represented Australia in the USA, Colombia and Ecuador at International events. For the second successive year we have won best foreign exhibit/display at the prestigious Santa Barbara International Show as well as supplying the Reserve Champion Cymbidium.
Unfortunately our cut flowers were extensively damaged in transit to Colombia but we still managed to take a few prizes but we excelled with our exhibit at the Latin American Conference held in Quito, Ecuador. We received many minor prizes as well as Champion Cut Flower with our flowering of Blc. Chinese Bronze ‘Marco Polo’.
